When the battery needs charging the "Low BAT" message will appear, the B indicator will start blinking, and a short tone is heard every 20 seconds. If the phone is left on, despite the low battery alarm, it will automatically turn itself off to protect the battery from over-discharging.

To prolong the battery life as long as possible, the battery should be used until the phone turns itself off. If the status monitor is on or digits are entered, only the B indicator will be seen. This is also true in the conversation mode during the Mute mode.
