Phone Book

The SIM and the phone each have areas of memory used for storing names and telephone numbers known as the Phone Book.
The phone can store up to 20 digits and 16 alphabet characters in each of its 200 memory locations. The phone also supports SIM cards with up to 255 memories but the actual number and capacity is dependent upon the SIM itself. The phone and SIM memory locations are interconnected. Both the SIM and the phone memories are searched when recall is requested.

Storing names and telephone numbers

Names and numbers can be stored directly in the Phone Book or moved from other stored areas such as SMS messages, scratchpad, or last dialed number list, etc.

If you travel outside the U.S., it is advisable to store numbers in international format using the '+' prefix before the country code followed by the telephone number. This will ensure that international numbers can be dialed from within your home country as well as abroad (See page 13 for International dialing code numbers).

See page 29 for instructions on entering text.

Fixed dialing numbers (FDN)

Fixed dialing restricts outgoing calls to 'fixed' numbers or 'prefixes' contained in SIMs that support this feature. When turned on, dialing any number not in the FDN list is not allowed. Call forwarding and sending SMS messages to any number not in the FDN list is prevented. The maximum number of FDN numbers that can be stored is dependent upon the capacity of the SIM. PIN2 code is required to turn on or enter numbers into FDN list.

Messages (SMS)

SMS message service enables you to send or receive short text messages of up to 160 characters to or from other PCS phones with the same capability. The messages are not sent directly to the other PCS phone but go via your network provider’s message center. You can also store, edit and forward messages as well as saving any of the numbers they may contain.
Some networks also offer an SMS Email service through a gateway address which enables PCS customers to send and receive messages to and from Email internet addresses. Contact your service provider for details.

Reading a standard SMS or Email message
When the phone receives a new SMS or email message, you will hear a 'double beep' SMS alert and appears. The message is automatically stored in the SIM. If is flashing, there is no more space to store messages in the SIM. Delete previously read and stored messages to make space for new ones.
